The theme of the 2007 edition of the Design Challenge at the LA Auto Show will be 'Environmental Sustainability'. Partecipants include 9 major styling centers. Entries will be revealed within this month.

The third Edition of the Design Challenge at the 2007 L.A. Auto Show is focused on the Environmental Sustainability theme.

Partecipants include 9 major design centers:

  • Acura - Acura Design Center
  • Audi - Volkswagen/Audi Design Center California
  • Honda - Honda research & Development
  • Hummer - GM West Coast Advanced Design Studio
  • Kia - Hyundai kia America Design Center
  • Mercedes-Benz - Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design of NA
  • Mini - BMW Group DesignworksUSA
  • Toyota - Calty Design Research
  • Volkswagen - Volkswagen/Audi Design Center California

Entries will be revealed within the next days, and the winner will be announced at the end of November at the L.A. Auto Show, which will take place from 1 to 10 December 2006.

The 2006 edition of the Design Challenge was won by the GMC PAD concept created by the GM West Coast Advanced Design Studio.

(cover image: the Honda Extreme is one of the entries for the Design Challenge. Its honeycomb chassis can accomodate various body styles to better suit the different life stages of the owner. At the end of the fifth year, the chassis can be recycled.)
