Anfia Car Coachbuilders Group has announced the launch of the 2008 edition of the Stile Italiano Giovani design competition. Participation is open to non-professional designers under 28 and the submission deadline is 30 June 2008.

After its last edition held in 2006 - which saw the participation of 27 countries from all over the world - the "Stile Italiano Gioveni" (literally translated as "Italian Style - Young People") competition is now at the start.

Organized since 1998 by ANFIA Italian (Association of the Automotive Industry) Car Coachbuilders Group, the competition is open to young non-professional designers aged 16 to 28 (turned by the 30th June 2008).

Application forms and projects, sent by competitors, must compulsorily be received by the 30th June 2008.

This autumn, from 18th September to 23rd November, the 20 best graphic works selected by the Jury, will be on display at an Exhibition organized in Turin at Torino Esposizioni Palace (pavilion gallery, right side), within the frame of DREAM (3rd event of the “The Trilogy of the Automobile”) and hosted in the ample environment of 2008 Turin World Design Capital.

Competition information

The goal of the event is to display to the automotive sector operators, the media and the public in general, the twenty best graphic works, selected among those presented by partecipants.

The Competition is open to young people aged 16 to 28 (turned by the 30th June 2008) and that are not engaged in any business activity.

As an alternative, should they already carry on business activities they must not be professional car designers.

Those interested in participating in the competition (the “Competitors”) shall send the application form, duly filled in, not later than 30th June 2008.

Submitted entries shall consist of one unpublished work, developing whatever external or internal fitting solution for whatever motor vehicle; orthogonal views, surface drafts and scale models can be optionally attached to the Project.

Submission must include up to two sheets of paper (size: 50x70 cm). Orthogonal views, surface drafts and scale models (if any) must be realized in 1: 10 scale.

Drawings must be accompanied by a descriptive report (not more than one typewritten page) with motivations and characteristics, in English or in Italian.

The Jury - formed by the major masters of the Italian design - will select the 20 best graphic works, to be displayed at the Exhibition.

Among the 20 finalists, the Jury will select three winning projects, that will respectively receive €5,000, €3,000 and €2,000awards.

Two other special prizes will be assigned: one to the author of the best Project of car interiors (offered by ADI, the Italian Association of the Industrial Design) and one to the youngest selected designer (offered by Auto & Design Italian magazine).

Other works will be selected for a “non-competing” Section, named “Illustrators”, dedicated to those works that, for their own expressive characteristics, can be considered applicable not only to the automobile world but also to fashion, advertising, animation, etc.
