Ken Okuyama Design Co. Ltd has opened its new Design Center in Irvine, California, in the same facility previously owned by Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design. It will serve as a creative center and for the development of small production vehicles.

The new US headquarters of the studio founded by former Pininfarina Design Director are located in the same 3,250 square meters facility used by Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design until June 2008, when it was moved to the former Chrysler's studio in Carlsbad.

The studio staff will include Neil Brooker (Managing Director), Micheal Castiglione (Design Manager) and Stuart Macey (Chief Engineer), who have worked on the production Dodge Challenger and the Porsche Carrera GT Concept.

About Ken Okuyama

Ken Okuyama has worked as a Design Director and Chief Designer for General Motors, Porsche and Pininfarina, being responsible - among the others - for the design of the Ferrari Enzo and Maserati Quattroporte.

The studio's activities include moden furniture design, eyewear and automotive coachbuilding.

Ken Okuyama is a visiting professor at the Art Center College and Nagoya University of Arts (Japan).
